Back in the Sixties I was a proud member of
the Environmental movement, we marched, we pamphleted, we educated; we tried to
save the environment for the people. Today’s environmental community has
changed. From my perspective, the movement isn’t trying to save the
environment for the people anymore; it’s trying to save it from the people.
Today’s environmentalist considers the people to be the disease. Today’s
environmentalist doesn’t care about jobs, family values, or communities.
Today’s environmentalist has a single focus, with a core concept that people are
the disease, and the only way to control the disease, is to eliminate the
disease from the land. Yes, I know, this seems like very harsh talk about
organizations that have done so much responsible and good work in the past, but
today’s environmentalists have lost their social conscience. Today’s
environmentalist is a part of our society and has a responsibility to the people
as well flora and fauna. The environmental community seems to fear
reasonable people with reasonable solutions, transition periods and above all,
time to make changes. They continue to wield their formidable weapon;
“CLOSURE” with increasing effectiveness, there is no middle ground, no
compromise. Protecting the environment and protecting the people’s use and
access to the environment do not need to be mutually exclusive concepts; it just
takes management, money and dedicated people, all of which we have in abundance
in this society.
Remember,
Only You Can Prevent Closures.
